Geraldine Callan

 Geraldine Callan
(née Rooney)

Inniskeen, Monaghan / Inniskeen, Louth

We, the family of Geraldine Callan, her heartbroken children Colin, Niall, Nadine, Clodagh, Kevin and Stephen, her grandchildren, her sons and daughters in law, her brothers and sisters, would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank all those who sympathised with us and offered condolences following our loss of our dearly loved Mammy, Geraldine.

We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who visited Mammy’s wake at Carricklane, and to those who visited Nadine in Australia, who was unable to travel back to Ireland as her little newborn baby entered this world on the day that Mammy left us, your presence and support were gratefully appreciated. To all those who sent Mass cards and enrolments, sympathy cards, left messages of condolences online, telephoned or messaged, please know we have taken great comfort from your empathy and compassion.

To our wonderful family members, friends and neighbours, a most sincere thank you. Your hard work, kindness, compassion and generosity will never be forgotten, the food that was brought to the house, hot meals that were cooked and for all the tea and refreshments that was served. A most sincere thank you to those who coordinated the one-way traffic system, the parking and the lighting.

A heartfelt thank you to those who attended Mammy’s funeral Mass and cremation and to those who joined online via webcam, it was of great comfort to us knowing we were surrounded by those whose life Mammy had touched.

Special thanks to Fr. Martin for celebrating a beautiful personal funeral Mass for Mammy. To the altar servers, the readers, gift bearers and eucharistic ministers, we thank you.  A word of thanks to Brendan McCaghey for the moving and personal music, which Mammy would have loved.

Some of the gifts were brought to the alter by Niall and Clodagh and were welcomed in lovely meaning by Kevin. A very fitting reflection was read by Stephen and one by Colin, words which describe this difficult and life changing time.

Thank you to the friends and neighbours who stood en route for Mammy’s final journey from the house to Inniskeen Church.

A very sincere thank you to Magee’s Funeral Directors for the gentle guidance and dignified management of Mammy’s funeral. And a thank you to Lakelands Crematorium for their services.

A very special word of thanks to Fr Noel Conlon for his prayers and for visiting Mammy many times in hospital.

Thank you to James and Stephen Watters catering for the lovely food and service they provided and to Inniskeen Social Club for the use of the facility.

Sincere and heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the wonderful, caring, kind, and supportive staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Dundalk, Louth County Hospital. Your care towards Mammy was outstanding and unwavering. Your professionalism and dignity knew no bounds. The care you provided Mammy and the support you gave to us during such a heartbreaking time can only be admired, we will be eternally grateful to each and every one of you. To the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, thank you for your care for Mammy.

Thank you to those who contributed donations to the Palliative Care Unit, Dundalk, in lieu of flowers.

Thank you to the committee from Scoil Cholmcille Blackstaff National School who spoke beautifully of Mammy at the recent duck race fundraiser and held a minute silence as a mark of respect and appreciation to Mammy for all her fundraising and help towards the School over the years.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our sincere appreciation.

“But we remember now in love, your life from start to end, and we’re just glad we knew you, as Mammy and as Friend”

Gone too soon Mammy

Padre Pio and Saint Anthony pray for us
