Margaret Corcoran

The death has occurred of

Margaret Corcoran

Dublin

Corcoran, (née Dunne), Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7 on May 7th 2024 (suddenly, after a brief illness) at the Mater Hospital. Margaret, cherished mother of "my five wonderful daughters", Paula, Brenda, Lorraine, Helen and Sarah, and forever Granny Marge to her eleven beloved grandchildren, Gemma, Faye, James, Sarah, Tom, Eve, Ben, Harry, Andrew, Hugo and Ollie. Like so many others, Margaret's sons-in-law Rónán, Richard, Shane, John and Sergio will dearly miss her warm camaraderie and wise counsel.

Her life often took her in multiple directions with little time wasted, making many great acquaintances along the way. She will be deeply missed and remembered by her siblings and all her fabulous friends & neighbours whose lives she touched. Margaret was considerate and generous of her time and resources and recognised the universal need for a listening ear. As a volunteer with Samaritans Ireland, she embodied compassion and understanding—traits carried down through her children and grandchildren.

In a final act of benevolence, Margaret has donated her body to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) for educational, training, and research purposes—a fitting epilogue after a lifetime of giving to others. We salute her last profound expression of generosity.

In line with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. A remembrance to celebrate her remarkable life will take place at the RCSI, College Hall and Boardroom, 123 St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2 on 25th May 2024 at 11am, all are welcome. Messages of sympathy for the family can be shared in the condolences section below, and donations in her memory – if desired – are kindly requested to Samaritans Ireland.
