To Dermott, Noel, the wider McCarron family and the O.L.A. Sisters, my deepest sympathies to you all on the loss of Sr. Majella. My thoughts are with you all at this sad and most difficult time. I got to know Sr. Majella through campaigning with her on the behalf of the Ogoni people. She was such a true and loyal friend to Ken Saro-Wiwa and has kept his memory alive. She was in many ways a true Christian crusader who stood up against tyranny, injustice, and the need to respect the planet we all lived on. She will be fondly remembered and will be an inspiration to us all to continue the good fight for the ideals we believe in. Rest in power, Sr. Majella! You have done your bit!
— David Cotter, Tallaght, Dublin 24.
My sincere sympathy to the OLA sisters and Sr. Majella's family.
Sister Majella was a very kind and friendly person. She fought for what was right, and was sincere and upright in her dealings with others. May the angels accept her soul into God's kingdom. Continue to rest in peace Sr. Majella.

Majella was a wonderful woman, a great activist and a credit to her family and her order. If more christians were like her the world would be a much better place.
— Tomas Mac Sheoin
I got to know Sr. Majella through her donation to Maynooth University of her death row correspondence from Ken Saro-Wiwa in 2011. This important donation created opportunities for some of richest and most profound learnings and experiences of my career. At Maynooth, we continue to benefit from the correspondence in our research and teaching. Her friendship with Saro-Wiwa and solidarity work for the Ogoni during the Nigerian crisis in the nineties provide unending inspiration. She was an encouraging presence at our annual seminars and generously lent us her wisdom whenever it was sought, remaining involved even as her health deteriorated and it became much harder for her to show up and be a public person. During the pandemic, I appreciated her feedback in email. In a personal sense, she emanated peace, strength and kindness. I am grateful to have known her and I will miss her. Sending heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones. May her memory be a source of peace and comfort to you.
— Íde Corley

I was so saddened to hear of our loss of Majella. I remember Majella as a tireless campaigner, full of vitality, determination and laughter. She was a great supporter of the global movement for debt cancellation and of course the climate justice movement, making valuable links between the struggles in Ireland and in Nigeria. Thank you Sr. Majella. Nessa Ní Chasaide (ex-Debt and Development Coalition)

I got to know Sr Majella through my work as OLA Communications Officer between 2015 and 2018. A very insightful person with a gentle but persuasive way. A person who touched the lives of many through social justice campaigns. A person ahead of her time. The fact she recorded podcasts in 2013, before they were a 'thing', says it all. A privilege to have known this lady. Sympathies to the McCarron Family and to my OLA friends.
— William Browne, Galway
While in Lagos as a volunteer thirty years ago I learned a lot about truth and justice from one of Ireland's great ambassadors or peregrinatio pro Christo. Difficult years, under two military rulers, Majella, like many Irish abroad, took a stand and brought that charism home in various human rights campaigns close to my heart. One of my dear friends and a disciple of peace and courage. Sorely missed. Sincere condolences to friends in South Fermanagh.
— John O'Rourke
Sister Majella supported my father, Ken Saro-Wiwa, during his detention under the military dictatorship in Nigeria, keeping his spirits up through the letters they wrote to one another. By faithfully preserving their correspondences, Sister Majella has helped maintain my father’s legacy and provide his family and the world with valuable insights into his inspiring thoughts. We are eternally grateful to her.
May she rest in peace.
— Noo Saro-Wiwa

Sincerest condolences on the death of Sr. Majella. A joy to have been but one of the many subjected to her gentle tenacity and deep conviction when working on the Africa Desk in DFA. We shared her sorrow at the wanton death of Ken Saro Wiwa in the face of her pleas and those of others such as Nelson Mandela. She made little ripples that became big waves. All at peace now.

Tá muid brónach inniu go bhfuil Majella imithe uainn, ach mairfidh sí go deo in ár gcuimhní. Ba bean uasal, cróga í Majella agus beidh muid i gcónaí buíoch don cuidiú agus tacaíocht a thug sí dúinn anseo i bparóiste Chill Chomáin, Maigh Eo. Sheas Majella an fód nuair nach raibh éinne eile in ann. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís.
Ár comhbhrón lena clann agus a deirfiúracha san O.L.A.
