Richard Vaughan Evans

We were so saddened to hear of Richard's death. He was a force of nature and Liadán loved him as a swim coach. We have great memories of him poolside encouraging everyone and having fun. He was always good humoured. We are thinking of Jayne and the family at this time.

We only met you once Richie (alongside Jayne) at the Rory Gallagher festival in 2023. What a night it was! And we kept in touch after as well. It’s a shame we weren’t able to meet again due to circumstances, but you were a top guy and a true gentleman. We are shocked & saddened by this news. Richard Evans was one of a kind. A jovial and kind-hearted man, Richard endeavoured to inspire and motivate his students to push themselves to fulfil their swimming potential. The world has lost a beautiful soul, but I and many others can take comfort in the many happy memories that Richard Evans enriched our lives with. I’m so sorry for your loss.Richard was a lovely man. I remember him coming into the bank with Callum and Sian when they were younger. Always had a smile on his face and time for a chat. Such a shock for you all.

Our heart has been hit by so sudden departure of a man who's wide hearted soul always covered everybody. Rich was always the best swimming couch at galas, great hand to weak or unsure ones, always supportive! Loved his wee cigar after couching when sat in car, chatted with parents and friends. I extend my deepest sympathies to Richard’s family and loved ones. There was no denying he had a great character, and was always full of spirit. On pool deck, Richard certainly left a lasting impression, with his relentless encouragement for swimmers, and how he always made time to catch up with myself and others after training sessions. We never once had an conversation where he didn’t make me laugh or smile, a testament to his uplifting presence. Rest in peace, Richard.

Very sorry to hear of Ritchie’s untimely death.

We stumbled across Ritchie some eight years ago, coaching in the Great Northern pool. Our very young daughter wanted to learn to swim and Ritchie took her gently under his wing.
His time was almost up in Bundoran - our loss, Sligo’s gain.
We remember him fondly - a lovely, kind and inspiring man.

So sad to hear of Richard's untimely passing, he and his dad struck up a friendship with my dad not long after his arrival in the kinlough area, he has since become a family friend as well as an excellent swim coach to my boys when they were younger, my deepest sympathy to Jayne, Sian, Callum, Richard's mum and extended family circle.A good man gone too soon, RIP Richard
