So sorry to hear of Tony’s passing. He was a staunch friend to my father Brian visiting him regularly in Kingsgrove and then at Dunlavin Nursing home. He was such a kind and thoughtful man with a gentle sense of humour who went out of his way to help others. He was with me when my dad passed in 2018 so I always felt a connection between us. Planned visits to us in Devon were halted by Covid and we were eventually unable to contact him but I will always remember the twinkle in his eye when he spoke of his love of dancing and the lovely chats we had about visits to his children and grandchildren. Our deepest sympathy to all Tony’s family on the loss of this gem of a man.

Tony was a founding member of the Wyeth Medica Ireland Golf Society Committee here at Newbridge in the early 90s which became Pfizer Newbridge Golf Society in 2011.
Tony was a champion of making this an inclusive group where everyone enjoyed a social outlet on the golf course and encouraged plenty of people to make new connections and many great friendships were formed.
There were also plenty of funny stories from Tony along the way and fond memories.
On behalf of our current and past Committee and Society members, we would like to pass on our condolences to all of Tony's family and friends at this sad time.

RIP Tony

So sorry to learn of the demise of Tony Martin. He played rugby with Drogheda RFC and played a major part in organising and preparing the first ever 'Margarine' rugby team in 1972. With the increasing workforce in the factory of the late 60's early 70's inclusive of prolific sports people, many new players were introduced to the game. It greatly benefitted the clubs in the area with the advent of the Drogheda & District Factory League. Tony was a member of the engineering staff in W&C McDonnells before his work career took him to Travenol in Castlebar in Mayo and subsequently, Wyeths in Newbridge Kildare where he was Engineering Plant Manager.
Whilst his career took him away from native Drogheda, those of us who worked with Tony in W&C McDonnells and socialised in his company, remember him as an extremely popular and helpful individual. He also liked his golf and in those halcyon days of 'The Margarine' Tony also played a role in the W&C McDonnells outings which also introduced many to the game.
I will be forever grateful to Tony Martin, for his part in introducing me to the game of rugby.
I'm sure, in extending profound sympathy to his family, I'm sharing in the condolences of all those who knew him for the nice person he was.We especially remember, at this sad time, his sister Mary (Harvey) and his brother, Jimmy, who were our former fellow workers in 'The Margarine' all those years ago.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.
