Larry was a dedicated and committed member of the Teachers’ Union of Ireland who always sought justice, equality and fair play for his colleagues. On his retirement he was deeply involved with our retired members association and served in a number of officer roles and was our current chair. Indeed on the day he was admitted to hospital he was arranging a speaker for our next meeting. A true gentleman and friend he will be sadly missed.

It was with great sadness I heard about the death of Larry Mullin. I recall him from one of my first meetings with the Sligo Volunteer Centre. He spoke with passion about volunteering in Sligo and its importance to the wider community. Larry was involved in founding the organisation in 2007 and served on the board in varying capacities for 12 years. He was integral to the recognition of Sligo's volunteering activities with the achievement of the 'European Volunteering Capital' award. His engagement with his community made him a role model for active citizenship. My condolences to Larrys family on the death of such a gentleman and valued member of our community. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
