To Edie, Ian and Colin, very sorry to hear about Charlie's death.
Difficult to describe Charlie without raiding a dictionary but ,for me,
he was sincere, no fuss, no nonsense while blessed with a quiet
sense of humour that was disarming. Memorable human being.

My friendship with Charlie goes back many years in business, first as steel supplier for Irish Steel, then as colleague with Heitons. Over those many years we formed a very close friendship that endured to the day he died. He was always a most sincere and thorough gentleman and a pleasure to know him. It is so hard to believe and accept that Charlie is gone and so quickly. He was the loveliest most unassuming man in every way and held a special place in our hearts. It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to have him as our neighbour and friend and to share in his final journey. He was loved by both young and old which is a testament to the man he was. We had become extra close through circumstances over the last good while and I will cherish the memories of those times forever. We will miss him so much - his smile with that glint in his eyes, our long chats about a variety of subjects, his strong hugs but mostly his presence. The place won't be the same without him. He was one of a kind.
As he said himself the last time I spoke with him 'he had a good life' so rest easy now dear Charlie. We were lucky to know you and will never forget you.

Truly saddened to learn that Charley has left us. We shared the same little desk in high infants for a year in Cloghogue primary school. Even then, his natural gentility was apparent. Sadly, our roads diverged and though the Craigs continued to be kind and wonderful neighbours,I never met Charley again. I am quite sure he is now earning a well earned rest in an infinitely better place. To his grieving wife annd children and to all the Craig family, we extend our most sincere sympathy.
