My deepest sympathy to Breege and family on the passing of their beloved Cathal. I had the honour of serving with him in Fitzgibbon Street Station. He was one of the unsung heroes of An Garda Síochána. The statement he made to the Conroy Commission, as a young Garda in the late 1960's and subsequent cross examination, was a major contributing factor in the very significant rise in living standards experienced by all members ever since. May he rest in peace.
