I was very sorry indeed, to learn of William's passing.
William gave great help and support to the then group, Clondra Village Concerned Residents, c. 2001, when villagers were trying to deal with a celtic tiger era planning application. Richmond Mill was about to become a 180 unit development in a 40 unit village.
William was so helpful, providing history, technical information and even made a submission and did some research for the group. We were profoundly grateful to him. He was an inspiration.
Sincere sympathies to all William's family members and to his many friends. May he rest in peace.

It was with great sadness that I heard of Willian's passing and may I extend my sincere condolences to William's family.
I had the privilege of meeting William latterly on two occasions, the first when he was in the Bullock Harbour facility and he shared with me so much about the 70+ mills he had come across during his research - and I got my challenge from William too - to make contact with the author Turtle Bunbury and have him call William. Turtle did call William.
The second when I visited William just before Christmas and again he shared much mill information.
I had hoped he would write me an article on the spice business, given the family connection, for our MMOI Newsletter.
William has left such a significant legacy.
May he now rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to William's family on his passing.
All sympathies to the family of William. He was an interesting, friendly neighbour when he lived in Shankill.
Deepest sympathy to the family of William on his recent death. What a lovely man and so full of life. I first met William about 13 years ago, when he visited the site of the old Feltrim Windmill near Swords. We kept in touch ever since and he was a great help to me in sourcing old historical records.
We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers as you say your farewells to William. Our thoughts are with you.
