Sincere sympathy on your loss. I had the pleasure of studying Seamus Heaney's poetry in college and am forever grateful for how it has enriched my life. Though his loss is great his legacy is timeless.

His passage of words was an experience of life. His experience of life will leave a legacy of words forever. May he rest in peace.

Seamus was a supporter and friend to Cancer Clinical Research Trust, for which I work. I also studied his work in college. He was a real gentleman and a wonderfully talented man also. Sincere sympathy to his wife and family, and indeed friends. He is a sad loss to Ireland. Rest in Peace,/

Whether at a formal conference reading or a chance encounter in a pub, he was always the same good, true, gregarious and generous man. And just happened also to be the finest poet of our time. RIP Seamus and deepest condolences to your loved ones.

As a people we are proud of you Seamus and rejoice that you were one of our own,so identifiable and accessible.You were a literary giant with the common touch;the golden thread that captured our lives in simplicity and depth and revealing our ordinary ways in the extraordinary power of your words. In you we found a poet and scholar so great that many of us will continue to follow over the centuries like the 8th century author of "Pangur Ban". Your reading of this poem brought me to a new height and understanding. We thank God for the gift of your life and work and from a distance we say goodbye.

We were stunned to hear the news that Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney passed away last Friday . All the members of IASIL Japan cherish the most wonderful memories of the visit the great Irish poet of our time made to Japan as our distinguished guest speaker at the IASIL Japan conference , and the deep connections he maintained with our members. We mourn his loss and extend our deepest sympathies to the Heaney family.

Deeply saddened by the loss of this great talent and inspiration to many, may he rest in peace, thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Saddened that Seamus has died, and condolences to Marie and all the family. -- Seamus has been my guiding voice, and I have loved him and his work. Saddened too that there will be no more breath-taking work from my hero. Very lucky to have met him many times, in Ireland and here at the University of Michigan where he read to beyond capacity appreciative audiences -- students and those of all ages who found him inspiring. (We had a mutual conection with the bog -- I grew up in the (Lindsay) Gaeltacht bogs of Erris, Co. Mayo.) And I just missed Seamus at Carysfort in the 1970s -- "Ar rath De i gconai go raibh a anam ."

Thank you for the gift of your beautiful words, which moved us, stirred us and touched us deeply, may your dear and tender soul rest in peace Seamus, my sincere condolences to your family at this sad time.

I was thinking of Seamus Heaney this morning and am deeply saddened by the loss of this very special man. It was a great privilege to have his wise counsel. Heartfelt condolences to Marie and family at this sad time.
