Sincere sympathies to Myles, Maureen, Derek, Michelle, Barry, nieces and the extended families. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. I just watched Karl’s funeral online and despite the sadness, there was a celebration of life that I wouldn’t, couldn’t have expected under the circumstances. Karl came through loud and clear amongst the beautiful readings, prayers of the faithful, Father Michael’s sermon and particularly the eulogy from Derek, who summed Karl up to a tee. Despite the numerous, massive life challenges, and then the unthinkable - Bernie, Caroline, and Rosanna’s tragic death, the loves of his life gone, the best part of his life over - somehow Karl displayed the faith, resilience and strength of character to go on. To summon the will to live must have been challenge enough but over the years the Karl we knew and loved, the sense of humour, the love for the game of rugby and a pint, the craic, all returned. Obviously life had forever changed but Karl learned to have fun again, in a good, wholesome, honest way and I can’t respect him enough for how he rose to the challenge time and time again. Karl, you’ll be sorely and forever missed. Big hug and now you can RIP

To all the Cassidy family. So very sorry to read of Karl’s passing. Remembering Bernie, his wonderful wife and ex nursing colleague of mine from the Bon Secours hospital, Glasnevin. We worked together for many years, we laughed about ‘something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue’ at the time of their wedding and I provided the ‘borrowed wedding shoes’ for their big day. It was a joyous time for them both. Karl is reunited with his three beloved girls now. May they all rest in peace together. X
