Sincere sympathy to Maureen and all of Declan’s family as you grieve his loss. He was a great character. He had a wonderful sense of humour and meeting him was sure to raise the spirits. I have many happy memories of travelling to handball matches around Ireland with Declan. In latter years I enjoyed playing with Declan and Carl Burkett on the Fitzgerald -Jones Club handball courts in TRSLC ,Tralee. I was in Lourdes when Declan passed away. I lit a candle at the grotto for him . May he rest in peace.

Maueen, We are so sad to receive news about Dec. I know your grief must be great right now. In the brief time we visited, I saw such a jovial, lively, and wonderful human being. Mike and I both have fond memories of our time with you both and your very warm welcome. I recall his intrepid and fast driving to the Ring of Kerry as you and I chatted and laughed in the back seat and then we all enjoyed a lovely dinner in Ardfert Farranwilliam. Great fun to be with him and with you.
I’m sure you and all in the family and those who knew him will miss this beautiful Soul and his wit.

I loved your father, even though we enjoyed only a few days with him and your mother. Your father was so easy to be with, as if I had known him forever. He did scare me a bit driving over that mountain road with no guardrails and wide enough for only one car!
I treasure that memory!
