Ann was the beneficiary of a rich sense of humour, and she much enjoyed engaging in devilment. I loved her laugh. It always took time to gather momentum, but - once it had attained its full resonance - it was one of the most authentic laughs I have ever heard.

Ann was a great support to us all during the Law School trip to South Africa back in 2001. At that time, we lectured in a number of South African law schools. Ann was in her element in Cape Town especially, revelling in the beauty of the gardens in the Mount Nelson hotel, savouring the food and wine in the Boschendahl vineyard, and venturing to the top of Table Mountain on an unseasonable afternoon when snow had fallen, whilst also contributing to the smooth running of the professional side of the trip.

I am sorry Gar and Lisa that I was not able to attend the funeral. However, you both can be immensely proud of your mother.
— Alex Schuster

Condolences to Mark, Gareth, Lisa and extended family on the sad loss of their mother Ann. I have known Ann for many years, having first met her in the Naoinra in St Laurence’s BNS and making the connection to the Battersby family whom I had known from athletics many years previously. We met often at Kilmacud Crokes games while Gareth was playing and we became bridge partners for a good number of years. It was great that she got to have her dream come through of owning a mobile home in Morriscastle. She quickly became an active member of the Polar Bears swimming group, though she took a long time to submerse herself in the cold water! She joined in the bridge and craft evenings as often as possible, enjoying the chat and cup of tea. I remember a lovely evening she organised sitting at the top of the field watching the sunset and enjoying a glass or two of wine! She will be remembered fondly and be missed by all the friends she made in Morriscastle. Rest in peace Ann.
